Ginger Bread Cake
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup light molasses
1 1/2 cup flour
3/4 t. salt
3/4 t. baking soda
1/2 t. ginger
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/2 c. boiling water
Stir shortening to soften. Gradually add sugar. Cream till light and fluffy. Add egg and molasses. Beat thoroughly. Sift dry ingredients. Add molasses mixture alternating with bowling water. Beat after each addition. Bake in well greased 8x8 inch pan at 350 degrees F. for 35-40 minutes until done.
Serve with sweetened applesauce over the top.

I don't have it written down but I remember that the flaps are 10 sts and I dec until I had one st left. then I used about 9 strands for the braids.
I'm not really good with earflaps mine turned out a little bit uneven thats why i didn't write down the pattern (:
